Our
natural handmade soap is created using plant oils and extracts,
botanicals and essential oils. We include organic ingredients
and aromatherapy blends and each recipe is generously formulated
to be rich, mild and long-lasting. We do not use synthetic fragrances,
detergents or commercially manufactured soap bases, and of course
we do not test our handmade soaps on animals. All our handmade
soaps are suitable for vegetarians and most are suitable for
vegans.
Our soap is made using the "Cold Process" method of
soapmaking, combining plant oils with an alkali solution to provoke
a natural reaction, which produces as an end product, pure mild
soap and natural glycerine.
To create our handmade soap, palm, coconut, olive, sunflower
and corn oils are gently warmed and blended with fabulous cocoa
and shea butters before being hand mixed with the alkali solution.
We then add carefully prepared flower and herb decoctions and
infusions, plant extracts, fine oils, dried herbs or spices and
then of course our deliciously expensive pure essential oils
to fragrance and impart their natural beneficial properties.
The soap mixture is then poured into handmade wooden moulds,
covered and insulated for 24-36 hours to allow the magic to work!
After unwrapping, the soap is turned out of the moulds and hand
cut into logs and bars. At this stage it is still a little soft
and can be decorated by studding with dried rose buds or spices
or rolled with tiny lavender buds or golden calendula petals.
The soap is then left to cure for up to 4 weeks before being
hand wrapped and labelled.
We
thoroughly enjoy producing handmade soap and are very proud that
we have not been tempted to skimp on the more expensive ingredients
or cut corners in manufacturing.
